Mid-Atlantic Conference, January 29-29, 2012, in Washington, D.C.
This conference is designed to provide training and networking in various areas related to educational growth. We pay registration fees and provide professional leave for this conference for members who attend.
VEA Sparks Retreat, February 24-26, 2012, Wintergreen Resort
VEA Sparks is a totally free, fun and rewarding weekend event for teachers and other school employees who have five or fewer years experience in public schools and little to no experience with VEA-NEA. VEA Lobby Day is January 23, 2012.
AEA provides transportation for those members who wish to travel to Richmond to talke with their State Delegates and Senators about important education legislation. We also provide lunch and will give association leave if you wish to volunteer for this activity. Please call 703-379-1650 or email Wanda Perkins at president@aeava.org to attend.
VEA Convention will be held April 26-28, 2012, Virginia Beach, VA.
The AEA is allowed 50 delegates to this convention. AEA provides funding and professional leave for the days you are away from school. The convention provides a great opportunity for you to meet educator colleagues from across the state, discuss statewide education issues with those colleagues and learn more about the Virginia Education Association. You must contact the office in January is you wish to attend. Your name will be put on a ballot which will be circulated to all members of the Association for election. NEA Convention will be held June 30 - July 5, in Washington, D.C.
The AEA is allowed ten delegates to the convention. AEA provides funding and professional leave (for the members on 12 month assignments who would be taking leave). The convention takes up issues of national importance such as the No Child Left Behind Act, Title 1 funding and other issues that impact education. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet other educators from around the country and learn more about the National Education Association. You must email Alysha Page at page@aeava.org in early February if you wish to attend. Your name will be put on a ballot which will be circulated to all members of the Association for election.

AEA Office Schedule
Usual Business Hours are: Monday - Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. AEA follows the APS inclement weather policy.
The AEA Office is closed for Thanksgiving Break, November 23-25, 2011, Winter Break, December 23 - January 2, 2012 and during Spring Break, April 2 - 6, 2012.
